Investigate Kairen’s death. With Kairen.
In a small chapel, you find your traveling companion’s name on a memorial tablet. She was laughing beside you just moments ago.
Kairen. Died three years ago.
Spouse — Alteon.
Your name.
Kairen reads the inscription beside you.
“…And apparently we got married, too.”
Neither of you remembers being married.
This city holds a past that neither of you recognizes.
Which story will you believe?
The innkeeper says the two of you stayed in the same room last year.
Accept that visit as part of your past, and a memory surfaces where there was none before. The feel of rain on your skin. Kairen scolding you for leaving your umbrella behind. She remembers it, too.
Reject the idea that you’re married, and a photograph of the two of you changes. Shoulders that once touched move apart.
Choose which explanations to accept as you follow conversations and records. Ask for more evidence, or leave the question open. Records, memories, and the world around you respond to your answers.
The people in that past have answers of their own.
Traces remain that no longer fit the world around them.
You meet people who remember how things were before.
And Kairen has something to say about the records you’re changing.
“It’s a record about me.”
The memorial names you as her spouse.
Kairen says she wants to live on her own when this journey ends.
The records tie your lives together. She is telling you what she wants for hers.
What will you say next?
They Say You’re Dead is a mystery visual novel with multiple endings, set in a world where belief shapes reality. Follow conflicting records and the people whose lives they describe.
