Human-written stories, AI-run play
Minds & Myths is a text adventure engine. Every story is a template written by a human author: a map of scenes, connections and conditions that the AI narrator follows. You decide what your character does. The AI decides how the world answers, inside the story the author built.
Why a story map?
Freeform AI storytelling drifts and forgets. A story map gives the narrator somewhere to go: beats it has to reach, facts it has to keep, and freedom in between. Long stories keep their shape.
Characters with minds of their own
Each major character is run by its own AI agent. Before every turn it works out, privately, what it knows, wants and fears, then acts.
How a turn works
You type what you want to do. A planner checks where the story is on the map. Each character thinks. Relevant memories are recalled. Then a writer turns all of it into prose. If you want to see the machinery, the full trace of every turn is one click away.
Bring your own AI
Minds & Myths runs on your PC and connects to the AI provider you choose through your own account (OpenRouter or Hugging Face). You pay your provider for what you use, usually cents per hour of play, depending on the model you pick. No subscription. No telemetry. Your stories never leave your machine unless you export them.
Stories and authoring
Ships with The Magis' Tower. More stories from commissioned writers are on the way. The authoring tools are included, and Steam Workshop is planned for sharing templates.
Good to know
Needs an internet connection and an OpenRouter or Hugging Face account (billed separately by the provider). Windows only at launch.
Store artwork: John Martin, "The Bard" (c. 1817) and "Belshazzar's Feast" (1820), public domain. Placeholders until the commissioned art arrives.
