Type to Survive is a survival roguelike that keeps both hands busy. Steer with the arrow keys while your weapons chew through the horde. Type the words above elites to kill them, or crack an enemy's shield so your weapons can finish the job. Pick your target before the crowd boxes you in.
Build something ridiculous
Choose from six heroes, each with a starting weapon and passive. Draft upgrades as you level up, stack synergies and evolve nine weapons into screen-clearing builds. There are 47 upgrades to work with, plus pre-run chips and permanent upgrades to unlock. Build a typing streak, charge your super, then finish its phrase to clear the wave.
Take the fight somewhere worse
Meadow's moonlit island is just the start. Push into Ember's lava fields, cross Frost's reflective ice and unlock the Derelict cargo deck. Choose a 10-minute or 20-minute run, or see how long you last in Endless. Agony and Torment turn up the pressure. Bosses bring their own phrases and attack patterns. Die, and the arcade announcer gets the last laugh.
One moves. One types.
Local co-op puts two people in charge of one hero. One steers with a gamepad; the other types on a keyboard. Good luck agreeing on which enemy needs to die first.
Put your score on the board
The Daily Run gives you a new seeded challenge. Ranked uses a fixed setup with Weekly and All-Time Steam leaderboards. Switch between WORLD, MY RANK and FRIENDS to find your next rival. Steam competition is for solo keyboard runs; co-op Daily runs are practice.
Keyboard required
Supports QWERTY, AZERTY and QWERTZ layouts. Solo movement uses the arrow keys. Gamepad menu navigation does not replace the keyboard needed for typing.
- Windows: Windows 10 (64-bit) or Windows 11.
- macOS: macOS 13.7 or newer on Apple Silicon (M1 or newer). Tested on Apple Silicon only; Intel Macs are not supported.
- SteamOS / Steam Deck: Uses the Windows version through Steam Play (Proton). An external physical keyboard is required.
- Linux: Uses the Windows version through Proton. No native Linux build is included; general desktop Linux configurations have not been validated.
