On the other side: the Backrooms. Damp carpet, stained yellow wallpaper, fluorescent lights that never stop buzzing. Halls that go on forever.
Backroom : First Signal is a first-person co-op horror game for 2 to 6 players. You can also go in alone.
At the end stands a door with a card reader. The keycards are shuffled every run. Only one opens the door, and it looks just like the expired ones. A dead explorer is still holding one.
Beyond the door: a ladder, a narrow crawlspace... and The Poolrooms. Endless tiled rooms. Still water, deep enough to swim. Light rippling across the ceiling. No buzzing lights here. Only dripping water, and the low hum of the filtration.

Stay together
- Proximity voice chat. Voices carry down the halls, echo in large rooms and sound muffled behind your hazmat mask.
- Mark the walls. One roll of tape, ten strips. Every mark you leave is there for the whole group to see.
- Watch the cameras. In a security office, old CRT screens show what the cameras see. Not everything shows up on them.
- Toss a can to a teammate. Watch what they do with it.
Keep breathing
- Twenty minutes of air. Your hazmat filter is running out. As it runs low, your vision clouds, your breathing grows heavy and you start hearing things that are not there. Find a spare filter.
- A dying light. Your headlamp's battery runs down. It flickers, then cuts out. Find batteries.
- Short of breath. Sprint too long and you will be left gasping.
- Scavenge. Vending machines and cans with strange effects. A coffee machine that only opens with the right code. An old radio, still playing.
What hunts you
- The Entity. Do not stare at it for too long. When the lights die, it is no longer in front of you.
- Something tall walks the halls. It grabs you, drags you away by the ankle and locks you in a cell.
- A teammate who is not your teammate. Wander off alone and someone comes to find you. Same suit. A familiar voice. The cameras never show it.
- The place itself. Blackouts sweep through whole areas. Some walls are not walls. One hall grows longer when you walk it alone. In places, the air turns foul.
No one gets left behind
- Locked in a cell? Your friends can get you out. A mural holds the fuse code. The right fuses in the electrical panel, the breaker thrown, and every door opens. For five seconds.
- Playing solo? Look closer at your cell. There is another way out.
- Dead? Keep watching through your teammates' bodycams. Make a living player's headlamp flicker to answer yes or no.
- Your dog tag stays behind. If someone hangs it on the register board, you come back. Once.
Find the way out
Part of the maze is rebuilt every run: its rooms, its supplies, what waits inside. At the end stands a door with a card reader. The keycards are shuffled every run. Only one opens the door, and it looks just like the expired ones. A dead explorer is still holding one.
