The greatest inventor of the Renaissance needs a side job.
His patron has stopped paying, the workshop rent is due and the Mona Lisa won't paint itself. So Leonardo da Vinci dusts off the flying machine nobody wanted, straps a stack of pizza boxes to the rack and opens a delivery service.
Historically accurate? Not in the slightest. Tomatoes had barely reached Europe. But then, Leonardo was always ahead of his time.
Crank to fly
The flying machine is a bicycle with a linen rotor, and you are the engine:
Left stick: tilt and steer.
Right stick: crank the rotor. The faster you circle, the more lift you get.
The pizzas ride loose on the rack. Lean too far, bump into a wall or touch down too hard, and they slide, crack or fall off.
Every delivery ends on a tiny landing spot: a window ledge, a market counter, the deck of a rocking galleon. Touch down softly, land in the middle and don't keep the customer waiting.
Features
85 hand-built levels in five districts of a Renaissance city, each at its own time of day: the craftsmen's alleys at golden hour, the market square at dawn, the windy harbour at noon, the nobles' palaces at dusk and the cathedral quarter under a full moon.
A city that gets in your way: laundry lines, flocks of pigeons, passers-by, gusts of wind, rocking ships, loading cranes and church bells whose chimes shake everything nearby.
Stars and tips: every route earns one to three stars for a soft, centred touchdown, intact pizzas and a quick delivery. Stars open new districts; tips in ducats pay for upgrades.
Leonardo's workshop: a reinforced rotor, an easy-running crank, a flywheel, a padded rack and storm-proof wings, each with five levels.
The Palio: every district has a race straight across town, through tower loggias and over the rooftops, against the clock.
Five bosses you feed instead of fight: Master Grimaldi and his giant crossbow, Bruno the market crier, a giant seagull, a mechanical lion and a rich patron in Leonardo's own ornithopter. Throw pizza slices into their open mouths until they've had enough.
A secret customer who orders incognito and tips like no one else. Rumour has it he lives near the cathedral.
Pixel art in the spirit of the Renaissance: a city map drawn like a 15th-century engraving, delivery routes laid out like old sea charts, palaces in striped Sienese marble.
Full controller support. A gamepad is recommended; the keyboard works too.
