The sun has shattered, and the world remembers what came before.
The Obsidian Sun is a 2D action RPG set in a mythic world inspired by Aztec/Mexica and Maya cultures. After the Obsidian Sun broke apart, fragments of sun-glass scattered across the land, twisting ancient roads, awakening forgotten powers, and turning once-protective guardians into dangerous threats.
Your journey begins at the edge of a small town that survives through cooperation, ritual, craft, and the promises its people keep. Help townspeople with their everyday struggles, learn new skills, uncover forgotten places, and follow ancient oaths deeper into the wilderness.
Explore distinct regions including the lush Jade Canopy, the volcanic Lava Mountain, the deceptive Glass Wastes, and the memory-filled Shadow-Road. Each region contains its own enemies, secrets, resources, challenges, and guardian whose purpose has been corrupted by the Long Eclipse.
Forge Your Own Path
Fight with melee weapons, ranged attacks, magic, and special abilities while developing skills that extend beyond combat. Fish ancient waters, hunt dangerous creatures, gather resources, craft equipment, cook offerings, discover living glyphs, and use what you learn to open new paths through the world.
Discover a World of Secrets
Exploration rewards attention. Rumors from townspeople, unusual landmarks, changing weather, hidden routes, skill requirements, and forgotten codex entries can reveal secrets that aren't marked on your map.
The more you learn about the world, the more of it you can understand.
Face the Broken Guardians
The great guardians of each region are not simply monsters. They once protected the world through ancient oaths—but after the Sun shattered, those oaths became distorted.
Defeating them means confronting what they once protected and deciding what their power should become.
Help the Town Endure
Your victories don't exist in isolation.
Complete requests, repair roads, restore shrines, improve shops, recover lost knowledge, and help the town prepare for the dangers spreading beyond its gates. As you progress, the town and the people within it change alongside you.
The world does not need a chosen hero.
It needs someone willing to keep showing up.
