BLACKBELL is a single-player gothic cartoon auto-battler roguelite. Gather an unlikely company, decide where every fighter stands, then ring the bell and watch your plan hold or fall apart on its own.
Recruit fighters from the shop and watch the Traits they share. Field enough fighters with the same Trait and it wakes up for the whole company, so the right cheap recruit can matter as much as the strongest one on offer.
Three copies of a fighter merge into a stronger 2★ form, and three of those make a 3★. Every star level has its own drawing, so you can see the payoff on the field.
Choose your path across each act's map: fights, markets, the Forge, Challenges, quiet places to rest, and well over a hundred events, some with stories that carry on through the run. Oddities picked up along the way bend the rules in small, strange ways.
Four acts lead from the Dark Road through the Drowned Belfry and the Unlit Orrery to the Black Belfry. Each one ends with a boss that fights by its own rules, including the Sunken Tollkeeper and the Last Heliophage
Six Travellers can lead the company. Five of them make one kind of recruit turn up more often in the shop. The Wanderer plays it straight.
Finish a run with a Traveller to unlock their next Ascension. There are three, and each step up makes the road harder.
Clear Ascension I with every Traveller and the Spire opens: fifty floors in four reaches, each fought in a different act’s realm and ending on a checkpoint boss, with the Black Bell waiting on the last floor. In the Spire, a fighter who falls is gone for the rest of the climb. Quick Drafts on the landings bring in replacements, so every loss changes the company you carry upward.
Build your company.
Set the stage.
Break the Bell.
