Test Fire: Armor Penetration Sim
Real engineering simulation to create the ballistics of any projectile and any target with any material of your choice. Test Fire is an armour-penetration sandbox built on finite element analysis (FEA), with two ways to play: a set of campaign levels with specific mass and cost limits, and an open sandbox editor to create and destroy anything you desire.
Real FEA Simulation
Every impact is solved with FEA. Armor deforms, cracks, shatters and spalls based on the material and the load. Slope, thickness and spacing all matter. Rounds ricochet, break apart, or get stopped halfway through.
Any Target
Draw armor in any 2D shape at real-world scale. Layer materials, slope plates, and leave gaps for spaced armor. Add explosive reactive armor. In the campaign, every extra layer costs you money and mass that brings you closer to the limit.
Any Projectile
Build any 2D projectile you can think of: full-calibre AP, APCR, APFSDS, HEAT, HE, or something that doesn't have a name yet. Shape, length and material decide how it penetrates and how it breaks up.
Any Material
Materials are made based on real material data, including strength, hardness, toughness and density. Ceramic shatters, steel bends, and you can make your own in the custom material editor.
Watch It Break
Replay every shot at any speed. View overlays shows the different screens capturing velocity, stress, damage and material for the entire ballistic, so you can see exactly where it failed.
Engineering Challenges
Two campaigns that run from World War I to the modern day, many based on real vehicles and ammunition.
Every level is scored on cost and weight, with leaderboards for the cheapest and lightest solutions.
Free Editor
Draw, erase, fill, shapes, layers, copy and paste, and mirror. The Sandbox has no limits. Save your designs, share them, and import other players' designs to test against your own.
