Birthright is a game about clawing your way to the throne, played two ways.
In the solo roguelike deckbuilder mode, you climb a map of randomized fights, markets, gambles, and more, building your deck from scratch as you go, with no run the same twice. In 1v1 multiplayer, you build your deck ahead of time and go head-to-head against another player directly, closer to a constructed card game than a roguelike run.
Across both modes, the core rules are the same. Play units and spells to build the stronger board, then choose what to do with what you have: attack, defend, or use utility. Protecting and timing your high utility cards matters as much as stats, which is why cards get more useful instead of just stronger as they cost more. No single card or turn can run away with the fight. RNG stays low, so outplaying your opponent matters more than what you draw.
