Raise your own little Munshi

Every Munshi starts out as an egg. Once it hatches it's yours to look after. Feed it, pet it, play with it, teach it a talent or two. Over time it grows into something new, and what it becomes depends on how you raised it: what it ate, what it practised, how much attention it got. There are 40 families and 114 forms to find, so it's rare for two Munshis to turn out the same.

Then take it racing

Races test five skills: running, swimming, climbing, flying and wits. Every course wants a different mix, so a Munshi that flies through the water might get stuck halfway up a cliff. You start with five easy runs through the countryside, and it gets stranger from there. Glowing caves, a live volcano, snowy mountain passes, a sunken kingdom, a neon city at night, a carnival floating out in space, a mountain shrine with a dragon wrapped around it. That's 65 courses over 13 cups, and the very last one is a dream your Munshi has about every place it's ever raced.

Fights, puzzles and the Gauntlet

It isn't all racing. There are fighting championships and puzzle trials too, and you can enter either one with a friend. Once your Munshi is properly strong, give the Gauntlet a go. It throws every course in the game at you in a random order. You get three hearts, and after each win you pick a boon to help with the next race. See how far you can get.

Four lives

A Munshi lives for about a day. When its time is up it comes back as a pup, keeping everything it learned plus a little extra. After its fourth life it returns in its final form for good. Markings, family and personality all get passed down when you breed, so before long you've got a family line that's really yours.

Build them a garden

There are over 120 pieces to play with. Dig ponds and lakes, plant fruit trees, put out swings and slides and a carousel, build them somewhere to sleep, and stack giant rocks into a cliff with a waterfall running down it. You don't have to lead them to any of it. They'll find it all on their own. Win every course in a cup on Expert and that world unlocks as a garden theme, like a mushroom grotto, a lawn up in the clouds or a castle's walled garden.

Dress them up

Button & Bow in town sells 42 things to wear, from straw hats and top hats to star-shaped shades and a dragon scarf. They keep them on when they race, too.

Better with friends

Open up your garden and your friends can drop by over Steam to have a look around. While they're there you can race each other, fight, swap puzzle challenges, or pair up two Munshis and see what hatches.
