The Lament is a psychological folk-horror adventure centered on investigation, exploration, environmental puzzles, and survival. You play as Elena, an investigative journalist drawn into San Sombra, where familiar environments shift, impossible spaces emerge, and supernatural events challenge her perception of reality.
Investigate San Sombra
Explore interconnected environments, search for clues, photograph discoveries, collect important items, and document Elena's experiences in her journal. Environmental puzzles and hidden information open new paths and reveal more about what happened in San Sombra.
See Beyond Reality
Use Spectral Vision to perceive things hidden from ordinary sight. Under certain circumstances, Elena can manipulate the environment itself, revealing objects, pathways, and possibilities that would otherwise remain inaccessible.
Navigate a Shifting World
Rooms, objects, pathways, and entire environments can change as reality shifts around Elena. Encounter impossible spaces, environmental loops, and echoes of other times as you learn how San Sombra's fractured reality behaves.
Endure the Unnatural
Exposure to supernatural forces affects Elena's psyche. As it deteriorates, strange events can occur, and complete psychological breakdown can end her attempt much like death. Dangerous encounters may require Elena to evade threats, remain unseen, or find another path forward.
Expect the Unexpected
Not every haunting follows the same script. Unpredictable supernatural events can alter what Elena experiences while exploring, allowing discoveries and encounters to differ between journeys.
