SPACEL is a roguelite space shooter set in a universe that is born, ages, and dies around you.
Every run drops you into a procedurally drawn cosmos and asks one thing: how long can you last? Clear waves, cash your kills in at the Werkstatt — the between-wave workshop — and stack an ever-nastier build until the three-phase final boss, REVENANT, comes to end your run. Alone, against a friend, or with up to four players in online co-op.
A cosmos that actually lives
This is no static starfield. In SPACEL's living-universe simulation, stars age and go supernova, collapsing into
black holes and neutron stars. Nebulae condense into brand-new stars. Gravity bends your bullets and your ship. Comets and asteroids tear across the battlefield — and in co-op, those asteroids double as cover. Every hazard is also an opportunity.
Build a run, then break it
- The Werkstatt — spend credits between waves on weapons, drones and ship mods. Escalating prices push you to commit to a build.
- Escalating threats — 8 enemy archetypes, from bombers to teleporters, plus wildcard wave variants: a Space Invaders throwback, a boss rush, a meteor storm, and total darkness.
- Combo chains — keep the kills flowing to keep your multiplier alive.
Five tiers of pain
Clear the game on NORMAL and SCHWER opens up. Then BRUTAL. Then MEISTER. Then LEGENDE. Every tier you conquer stacks a
permanent bonus onto that ship — so the grind always pays forward. Beat REVENANT on all five and you have truly mastered SPACEL.
Solo, versus, or four-player co-op
- Arcade — the core wave-based roguelite loop.
- Missions — story-driven exploration with briefings and debriefings.
- Endless — a tweakable sandbox, solo or co-op.
- Local Versus — two players, one keyboard or two gamepads.
- Online Co-op — up to four players via Steam relay (NAT-friendly) or direct LAN.
Pure signal, no filler
Almost everything you see is drawn in code, and almost everything you hear is synthesized at runtime — so SPACEL is tiny to download, runs on modest hardware, and has a look and a sound entirely its own. Local and online leaderboards keep the score-chasers honest.
