A tiny hamster, a giant tree
HAMSTER: CLAW is a single-player hack-and-slash action RPG. Battle insect swarms, grow your elemental skills, and build your hamster with weapons, loot, and runes.
Hamster and Bori had the sweetest little life together. Then one day, while they were out playing, an eagle owl swooped in and carried Bori off to its nest at the top of a giant tree. The hamster didn't hesitate. Roots, damp fungus caves, the hollow heartwood, a hive, the canopy: fifty floors stand between them.
Combat and growing skills
- Bugs come in swarms. Ants, termites, beetles and flying insects will surround you, and the right skill can wipe out a whole pack at once.
- Fight with one- and two-handed swords and axes, spears, bows, wands, staffs and shields. Each weapon type has its own skills, drawing on fire, frost, lightning, poison or void.
- Skills get stronger as they rank up. Their early attacks grow into larger, more elaborate elemental effects by rank 20.
- Roll out of trouble, swap between two weapon sets, and take on bosses like the crow and the eagle owl.
204 weapon skills to combine
Freeze enemies before shattering them, or stack poison and burst it all at once. With 204 weapon skills, there are plenty of combinations to try. Below: a skill on its own on the left, and a combo on the right.
Mix elements with runes
Some runes add another element to your weapon's skills. Here, a fire rune adds burns and Overload explosions to a lightning weapon. Both sides use the same weapon and skills; the right side has the rune equipped.
Loot and the workshop
- Gear drops with random stats, so the next thing you pick up might change how you play.
- Runes go into weapon sockets. Some shorten cooldowns, others make your projectiles pierce, come back to you, explode against walls or bounce between enemies.
- At the workshop you can upgrade or salvage gear, add and remove runes, and move a skill from one weapon to another.
- Helmets and armor show up on your hamster.
The human world, seen from down here
Bottle caps, clothespins, a toppled glass bottle, an old hamster wheel. At this size, the things people threw away become shelters, bridges and puzzles. Each floor has a small optional story built around one of them, with a reward if you stop to help.
