In Nightglade, hitting hard isn't enough. The city belongs to those who hold the better hand and can read their rival's cards.
You lead a gang, send its members into battle and build strong hands with them, while tearing apart your rival's plans.
There are two ways to play: standalone skirmishes against another player or the AI, or the story campaign.
Skirmishes
There are 7 card classes: Solo, Fixer, Datarat, Nomad, Techie, Drone Operator and Headliner. Each class has its own role and play style on the battlefield.
Each class has two leaders who change how its cards work. A skirmish starts with a leader draft, followed by picking supporting classes. By the end of this phase, each player has 2 leaders and 4 card classes in total to fight with.
When you play a card, you decide which role it takes:
Commander: pick additional cards from your hand that match it by color or rank, and play them to the locations of your choice.
Messenger: pick cards on the board that match it by color or rank, and activate their abilities.
Every card strikes the moment it hits the table — unleash its ability and deal damage right away.
As you send units to locations, you try to build four-card poker hands with them. At the same time, you activate your units to stop your opponent from doing the same.
Story campaign
You play as Patch, a medic who takes temporary command of the gang while its leader, Knox, is missing.
You try to unravel the mystery of his disappearance, taking on side jobs, making contacts and forging alliances across Nightglade along the way. You decide who to trust, who to sacrifice and whether to play along with the corporations that hold the city in their grip. Your choices shape how the story unfolds and how it ends.
You also grow your gang: buy gear and train its members.
