GAME PROFILE

Clade

Clade is the story of one world, from the first spark of life to the first ship among the stars. Rise from a single cell in a primordial ocean, crawl onto land as a creature fighting to survive, gather a tribe around its first fire, lead that tribe to become a great civilisation, and carry your people's legacy into a galaxy of rival worlds. Every stage takes place in the same persistent world, whether that's Earth or a planet of your own, shaped by what came before. Play the whole journey, or start at whichever stage you like.

Aquatic Stage: Life Begins

From one cell to many. Begin as a single cell under the microscope and build a living body cell by cell: jets to swim, jaws to bite, eyes to see.

A sea with depth. Dive through open water, caves and tunnels, ride the currents between them, and learn which of your neighbours are food and which are hunting you.

Become a swimmer. Grow a spine, fins and a brain, and leave the microscopic world behind as a fish-like animal.

Creature Stage: Survive the Wild

Leave the water. Explore reefs and the sea floor, grow limbs, and take your first steps onto land.

Hunt and be hunted. Manage hunger, thirst and stamina in a wilderness full of predators and prey.

Grow and gather. Raise your young from hatchling to adult, build nests and run with a pack.

Design your species. Shape your creature in the creature creator, and watch it walk, swim and hunt the way you built it.

Tribal Stage: Keep the Fire

Wander with your band. Lead a small band through the seasons. Follow the herds, keep the fire alive through the winter, and learn the land.

Choose your home. Pick the ground for your village. One day it will be the capital of your civilisation.

A village of real people. Dozens of named villagers with needs, moods, skills and friendships work, quarrel, fall ill and grow old. Set their priorities and watch the village run itself.

Stories that write themselves. Raids, great beasts, cold snaps, fevers and wandering strangers test your people, and those who fall are buried, mourned and remembered.

Look up. Your people begin to study the moon and the stars, and for the first time you can pull back and see your whole world.

Found your first city. When you are ready, your village becomes a city. Its buildings, its people and its heroes carry on into the next stage.

Civilisation Stage: Conquer a Living Planet

A world with no edges. Build your empire across the surface of a whole planet, whether it's a true-to-life Earth with its real climate or a new world generated from a seed.

Up to 120 rival empires. Settle cities, gather resources and grow alongside dozens of AI civilisations and independent city-states.

Nine ages of history. Lead your people from the Dark Age to the Age of Intelligence, researching technologies, shaping civics and choosing how you govern.

Play real history. On Earth, take charge of a real nation and follow history as closely, or as loosely, as you like.

Or begin on a world of your own. Earth is optional. Start on a brand-new planet generated from a seed, as familiar or as alien as you like, with its own continents, climates and peoples, and write a history nobody has seen before.

Diplomacy that travels. Couriers carry messages, pleas for aid and declarations of war across the world, so distance matters. Form alliances, found unions, and argue your case before the whole world.

The nuclear age. Build an arsenal, stare down your rivals, and live with the consequences: fallout, ruined cities and nuclear winter.

Wonders and megaprojects. Raise the great works of every age, alone or together with your allies.

Reach for the sky. Win the race to space, plant an outpost on your world's moon, and launch your civilisation beyond its homeworld.

Space Stage: A Galaxy of Rivals

Explore the stars. Travel a galaxy of hyperlane routes, where every star system is a full 3D map.

Your history shapes the galaxy. The empires you outlasted on your homeworld don't vanish. Their governors break away to found colonies of their own and become your first rivals among the stars.
