Wavefront: VanguardWavefront: Vanguard

Wavefront: Vanguard is a low-poly, combined-arms real-time strategy game where information is your ultimate weapon. Set across procedural islands, archipelagos, and straits spanning land, sea, and air, victory belongs to those who see first, strike first, and hold the line.

Forget artificial vision circles. In Wavefront: Vanguard, units are completely blind until detected by an active network of optics, radars, sonars, magnetic sensors, or laser designators. Build a superior sensor picture, master the art of emission control, and strike targets hidden behind real-world radar terrain shadows.

Key Features

• The Fused Sensor Picture: Shared seamlessly with your allies, your intelligence network dictates what you can target. Manage radars, counter-sensors, and jammers to blind your enemy while keeping your own forces concealed.

• True Combined Arms Warfare: Coordinate specialized units across land, sea (surface and deep-diving submarines), and air (fixed-wing jets, turboprop bombers, and attack helicopters). No single unit stands alone—SAM networks rely on ground radars, strike craft need forward observers, and carriers require naval escorts.

• Tactical Military Strategy: Bypass bloated base-building loops. Manage a streamlined economy of five core resources, focus on positioning, logistics, fuel lines, supply trucks, and devastating fire support.

• Simulated Ballistics & Physics: Experience authentic weapon trajectories, customizable missile thrust curves, modular munitions, and fully destructible infrastructure, including drop-able bridges and crumbling fortifications.

• Procedural Low-Poly Art Style: Fully generated clean geometry and faceted surfaces paired with dedicated tactical displays, night vision, thermal imaging, and a specialized radar-scope view.

• Deep Progression & Persistent World: Unlock operator skills and hardware equipment across an account progression system. Jump into traditional skirmishes, custom 1–8 player matches, or a persistent world where bases remain intact between sessions.

Your war machine depends on five resources:

• Cash: finances construction and production

• Humans: provide crews for manned units

• Metal: builds armour, ships and heavy equipment

• Knowledge: powers advanced electronics and guided weapons

• Gasoline: keeps vehicles, ships and aircraft moving

Fuel is consumed continuously by mobile forces.

Logistics trucks can resupply ammunition and fuel near the front, while destroyed assets leave salvage that can be recovered for metal.

A successful offensive needs more than firepower. It needs logistics.

Lead armoured formations across the battlefield with tanks, scout vehicles, engineers, artillery and mobile air defence.

• Deploy mines, concrete blockades and barbed wire to shape enemy movement.

• Use armoured bridge layers to create new crossings over streams and rivers.

• Establish Forward Operating Bases to produce forces closer to the front.

• And when conventional firepower isn't enough, ballistic missile launchers can strike targets kilometres away.

The ocean is a battlefield of its own.

• Patrol boats scout coastlines, deploy mines and establish sensor pickets.

• Guided-missile frigates provide radar coverage and fleet air defence.

• Attack submarines stalk beneath the surface using sonar and torpedoes.

• Aircraft carriers operate as mobile airbases, extending air power far beyond the coastline.

• Deploy magnetic sensor buoys, conduct anti-submarine patrols and protect valuable ships with layered escorts.

Control the skies with a complete air combat ecosystem.

• Reconnaissance UAVs locate and designate targets.

• Attack helicopters provide mobile anti-armour firepower.

• Air-superiority fighters intercept hostile aircraft.

• Strike aircraft bomb ground targets and hunt enemy radar emitters.

• Close-air-support aircraft conduct gun runs against surface forces.

• Maritime patrol aircraft search for submarines using radar, magnetic detection and acoustic torpedoes.

Aircraft must return to an airstrip, airfield or carrier to rearm, making airbase placement and carrier survival strategically important.

Change how you perceive the battlefield with multiple tactical vision modes:

• Natural Vision: observe the battlefield normally, affected by weather, terrain and darkness.

• Night Vision: amplify available light into a green tactical image.

• Thermal Vision: detect engines, fires, vehicles and other heat sources.

• Radar Vision: see the battlefield through your actual radar network, including coverage gaps and terrain shadows.

Sensor coverage can also be projected directly onto the terrain, allowing you to inspect radar, sonar, magnetic detection, visual coverage and jamming zones.

Victory is only the beginning. Wavefront: Vanguard features 41 Steam achievements that challenge you to master every side of modern warfare. Build a war economy, command every unit type, dominate land, sea and air, hunt from beneath the waves, jam enemy radar, evade incoming missiles, unleash maximum-range ballistic strikes and conquer every game mode. Some reward progression. Others demand unusual tactics, calculated risks or near-perfect command.

Win the battle. Master the systems. Complete the challenge.

Play with up to 8 human or AI commanders with freely configurable alliances.

• Team Deathmatch: destroy the opposing alliance.

• Capture the Flag: infiltrate the enemy base, capture its flag and return it to your headquarters.

• Domination: capture and hold strategic control points to accumulate score.

• Persistent World: build, explore and fight across a large world that saves between sessions.
