The Guy DownstairsThe Guy Downstairs

A whole life sim, living downstairs from your windows

The Guy Downstairs lives in a slim strip docked to the bottom of your screen. While you answer emails, write code or watch videos up top, Alex lives his whole life down below. He wakes up, burns breakfast, goes to work, texts his friends, falls in love and slowly turns a leaky studio into a Sky Villa.

Queue up his day with a few clicks, or switch on free will and let him look after himself. He never starves while you're busy, so leaving him running is always a good thing.

Live a little life

• Needs and moods. Hunger, energy, hygiene, bladder, fun and social. A happy Alex works harder and learns faster.

• Six skills, ten levels each. Programming, gaming, cooking, fitness, charisma and music. Every level unlocks something: side gigs, new recipes, stand-up comedy, an album.

• Five careers. Tech, culinary, music, retail and fitness. Nail the interview, climb eight levels and pick a path when your career forks.

• Friends and romance. Game with Leo, swap books with Maya, lift with Sam, grab lunch with Priya. Chat up Nora at the cafe, go on dates and ask her to move in.

• Pets. A cat who naps on everything and a dog named Waffles who really needs his walks.

Build a home

• Five homes, from the Shabby Studio to the Penthouse and the Sky Villa.

• Almost 70 items, each with an upgrade ladder from junk to luxury. Beanbag today, leather Chesterfield later.

• Cars, vacations, and one day, buying the whole building.

Real life happens

• Bills every Monday. Skip the gym and the jeans get tight. Catch a cold in winter. The dishes pile up.

• Four seasons with weather, holidays and a yearly birthday.

• Surprises all day long: a clogged toilet, a noisy party, a mystery package, a surprise bonus.

Stays out of your way

• Always on top and click-through wherever nothing is drawn, so your desktop keeps working.

• Full, Compact and Peek sizes. Hide it all with Ctrl+Shift+G.

• Light on your PC: a 30 fps cap, and it sleeps when covered.

• Cozy lo-fi music that changes with the seasons and softens at night.
