LIVE A WHOLE LIFE — NOT JUST ONE PART OF IT

A life simulator where entire systems collide.

TML began with a simple question.

There are countless great simulation games — life simulators, business simulators, career simulators, political simulators, management games and more.

But what if they were not separate games?

What if one life could connect them all?

That question became That's My Life: a deep, open-ended life simulation sandbox built around one persistent world where careers, education, business, property, relationships, family, health, politics, crime and the economy all affect the same life.

Your education changes which careers are available to you. Work affects your income, time, relationships and health. Businesses depend on employees, suppliers, production, markets and the wider economy. Property can become a home, an investment or a responsibility. Politics can change the rules of society. Crime can follow you into court, prison and the rest of your future.

These are not isolated minigames. They exist inside the same world and share the same economy, NPCs, laws, locations and consequences.

BUILD YOUR OWN LIFE

There is no predetermined path and no required definition of success.

Choose from 410 jobs, pursue 270 education and professional training paths, earn 89 general certifications and develop through 103 career specializations.

Build a long-term profession, retrain later in life, combine work and education, become self-employed or leave conventional employment behind entirely.

You can also pursue other kinds of careers — including competitive and professional sports — where training, ability, opportunities and career progression become part of the same life you are already living.

Time matters. Money matters. Your circumstances matter.

You cannot do everything at once.

WORK IS MORE THAN A PAYCHECK

Choosing a profession does not simply turn employment into a passive income counter.

Your working days can produce profession-specific situations, incidents and decisions.

A healthcare worker may face very different events from a police officer, factory employee, office worker or corrections officer. Colleagues, supervisors, customers and workplace conditions can create situations that require a response.

How you handle those moments can affect your work life, relationships and future opportunities.

You may spend decades building one career — or decide one morning that you have had enough and begin again somewhere else.

START SMALL — OR CONTROL THE ENTIRE PRODUCTION CHAIN

Create and manage businesses across 120 industries and around 640 different business operations.

Run a small shop, open a service company, manufacture consumer products, operate farms or extract natural resources.

Or go much further.

You can build and own an entire production chain from primary production all the way to the final consumer.

Extract or grow raw materials.

Process and refine them.

Manufacture components and finished products.

Build wholesale and distribution operations.

Sell the final goods through your own retail businesses.

A company can buy from outside suppliers — or you can vertically integrate and produce increasingly more of what your own businesses need.

Factories can depend on bills of materials, equipment, workers, production capacity, suppliers, quality, stock levels and demand. Supplier choice can affect both cost and quality.

You may own one modest operation.

Or create an industrial network where the mine, refinery, factory, warehouse, wholesaler and shop all belong to you.

A REAL ECONOMY OF PRODUCTS, MARKETS AND MONEY

Earn money. Spend it. Borrow it. Invest it. Lose it.

Manage personal finances, loans, property and investments across a broad financial system.

Build portfolios, trade financial instruments and engage in more advanced market activity including long and short positions, futures, margin calls and liquidation.

The wider economy contains tens of thousands of products, linking everyday consumer purchases to retail, manufacturing, wholesale and international trade.

The shampoo you buy is part of the same economy in which another company manufactures consumer goods, purchases materials and competes for customers.

Money creates freedom.

It can also create debt, obligations and risk.

OWN PROPERTY — AND DEAL WITH WHAT OWNERSHIP MEANS

Buy a home, move somewhere cheaper, acquire investment property or build a larger portfolio.

Property can generate income, but it can also generate work.

Rental properties can have actual NPC tenants rather than anonymous income percentages. A tenant may fail to pay rent, report a broken appliance, call about a water leak or create another problem that the owner has to deal with.

Homes themselves are part of life too — from ordinary apartments and houses to alternative living arrangements.

Where and how you live can affect the life around you.

NPCs HAVE LIVES OF THEIR OWN

The people around you are not simply waiting for the player to click on them.

NPCs have their own circumstances, relationships, activities and memories.

They can take initiative.

A colleague might contact you after something happens at work.

A friend may invite you somewhere.

Someone may ask for help, make a request or approach you because of your relationship with them.

A partner or family member can react to events in your life.

A tenant may call because something has gone wrong in their apartment.

People can remember previous interactions and respond differently depending on your relationship, behavior and circumstances.

Even ordinary details can matter. Your appearance, hygiene, behavior and condition can influence how people react to you.

The social world does not exist only when you open the Relationships menu.

RELATIONSHIPS, FAMILY AND GENERATIONS

Meet people, build friendships, form partnerships and start a family.

Relationships can develop into marriage and children, while separation can create custody, child-support and changing household responsibilities.

Family changes the way you use time, money and opportunity.

Eventually, one life can also become part of a longer family story through inheritance and succession.

LIFE DOESN'T ALWAYS GO TO PLAN

Success is only one possible story.

Lose your job.

Fall into debt.

Apply for welfare.

Face illness, relationship problems, business failure or imprisonment.

A plan that looked secure five years earlier can collapse.

But failure does not end the game.

Retrain. Move. Change careers. Sell property. Rebuild your finances. Start another company. Change your priorities.

That's My Life is built around lives that change — not guaranteed upward progression.

ENTER POLITICS

Politics is another possible life path, not a separate game mode.

Become politically active, seek elected office and participate in government and legislation while continuing to live the rest of your life.

Political ambition still competes with your career, finances, relationships, health and time.

You can work your way through different levels of political life and become involved in decisions that affect the society in which every character lives.
