ecoSYSTEMSecoSYSTEMS

Create distinctive planets. Read their landscapes. Discover where people can thrive—and what it will take for them to endure.

ecoSYSTEMS is a planetary settlement and resilience strategy game. Shape continents through tectonics and erosion, set the balance of land and water, and tune the forces that drive climate. Watch coastlines, forests, clouds, oceans, and polar ice emerge across a complete twelve-month seasonal cycle. Study your planet's buildability, explore fixed geographic regions, and survey candidate settlement sites to uncover their resources, hazards, and seasonal limitations.

Your task is to turn that knowledge into a resilient civilization. Plan around freshwater, fertility, energy potential, transportation, pollution, and a changing climate. ecoSYSTEMS is not about finding one perfect score or covering the planet with buildings. It is about learning how a world works, making thoughtful compromises, and building a civilization that can stand the test of time alongside a rich and ecologically complex world.

Organic Procedural Cities: Place major "Anchor" infrastructure—like Town Halls, Factories, Farms, and Ports—while the game procedurally generates residential and commercial sprawl that automatically conforms to the planet's topography. As your civilization advances through Historical Eras, constrained cities will naturally densify vertically into towering skyscrapers and arcologies. With every new era, your civilization physically and socially transforms. Watch your settlements organically evolve from basic wood and stone to towering skyscrapers and arcologies that overcome geographic and engineering constraints. As you advance, you will upgrade primitive dirt trails and aqueducts into multilane highways and high-voltage super-grids, vastly expanding your logistical bandwidth.

Innovation & Megaprojects: Technological progression is handled via a randomized Tech Draft that is dynamically weighted by the dominant political factions in your society. Ultimately, you must survive long enough to initiate multi-stage Capstone Megaprojects—ranging from Lunar Mass-Drivers to global Geoengineering Arrays—which trigger a final, grueling gauntlet of extreme crises to secure one of five distinct victory conditions.

Dynamic Ecological Threats: Pollution dynamically interacts with the planet's generated weather and climate system. Toxic smog is carried by shifting seasonal winds, while industrial runoff flows downstream through watersheds, triggering toxic algae blooms and dead zones in coastal oceans. Accumulating global greenhouse gases can trigger permanent climate band shifts and melt ancient glaciers, raising the global sea level and permanently submerging your coastal infrastructure. Environmental threats emerge directly from the physical geography, featuring fault-line earthquakes, coastal cyclones, and regional flooding. Manage crises through a three-stage system: construct early-warning radars to forecast probabilities, trigger emergency edicts and flood cities with relief convoys during the impact

Evolving Factions & Refugee Crises: Navigate a dynamic political landscape where internal factions evolve across eras (from Peasants to Unionists to Technocrats) based on the employment sectors you build. Factions will issue ultimatums, trigger massive labor boycotts, or commit sabotage if their approval plummets. Extreme disasters or pollution will force citizens to physically migrate
