Astronomy3D: Artemis IIAstronomy3D: Artemis II

Astronomy3D: Artemis II turns selected photographs from humanity's return to the Moon's vicinity into an interactive 3D space you can explore and fly through.

During the nearly 10-day journey around the Moon in April 2026, thousands of photographs documented the mission from launch to return. Astronomy3D: Artemis II brings together more than 2,900 of the best images in a carefully selected collection — from distant views of Earth to the Moon's far side, ancient craters, earthrise, earthset, and a solar eclipse — presented as a ready-made 3D photo experience.

What you get

• More than 2,900 selected photographs — A carefully curated collection spanning the historic mission, including imagery captured during the journey and lunar flyby.

• Game-like 3D exploration — Move through the collection in an interactive 3D space instead of clicking through a conventional thumbnail grid.

• Progressive detail — Survey the collection as low-resolution previews, with full detail resolving when you approach an image.

• Jump anywhere — Point to any image in the 3D view and fly to it in seconds. Higher-resolution versions load quietly from disk in the background, so movement never stalls.

• Multiple 3D views and layouts — Switch between different spatial arrangements to experience the same photographs from new perspectives.

• Manual mode, slideshow, and flythrough — Explore freely, step through the collection at your own pace with a slideshow, or choose an automated flythrough.

• Customizable viewing experience — Adjust UI scale, display settings, transitions, and quality options to match your preferences and system.

What this is not

Astronomy3D: Artemis II is a dedicated viewer for a curated selection of Artemis II mission photography. It is not a mission simulator, and it does not let you create or edit projects, import your own photos, or alter the included collection. If you want to build your own 3D photo experiences from personal libraries, check out Album3D.

Powered by Universe3D

Astronomy3D: Artemis II and Album3D are both built on Universe3D, the 3D technology and umbrella brand behind our game-like photo experiences. Universe3D lets you move through high-resolution photographs as continuous 3D spaces — previewing an entire collection at a glance from a distance, then seeing each image in full detail the moment you get close, without the click-wait-click rhythm of a traditional viewer.

About Artemis II

Artemis II was the first crewed flight of NASA's Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft. Its four-person crew launched on April 1, 2026, flew around the Moon, and returned safely to Earth on April 10. The mission tested the systems and operations needed for future human exploration of the Moon while providing extraordinary views of Earth, deep space, and lunar terrain unseen from Earth.

This app is an independent, unaffiliated viewer. Artemis II names and imagery belong to their respective owners.
