TWO ROPES
Left hand and right hand, fired independently. Hold both and you are on a
pendulum; drop one and you are on an arc; drop the other and you are falling.
Reeling is a zip rather than a nudge, so the line pulls you straight to what
you hooked. Everything else in the game sits on top of that.
ONE AXE, AND THE HEART
A clean cut on the heart kills anything, whatever its size. The window is
small and the difficulty lives in reaching it, not in surviving long enough to
grind something down. Miss the heart and you land a body blow worth a third of
the creature; hacking works and takes three times as long.
BLESSINGS
More than sixty of them, drafted two at a time as a match runs. Every one is a
trade. Lose the ability to reel in and carry double the tank. Throw your shield
like a frisbee and give up the bubble that was keeping you alive. Shrink to a
third of your size and become genuinely hard to hit, including by the aim
assist. Nothing here is a permanent upgrade; the run ends and so does the
blessing.
THE MODES
Holmgang · one against one, first to five rounds, no shelter
Warbands · four a side, Aesir against Jotnar, five minutes
Gjallarhorn · carry the horn and score while you hold it. Everyone in the hall comes for you
The Hunt · up to four, holding a ward against endless waves
Bosses · Jormungandr under the frozen mere, and Fenrir on Lyngvi
Fridr · Alfheim, with nothing hunting you. Eighteen rings and a long way down
SEVEN REALMS
A black forest in Vanaheim. The inside of a mountain in Muspelheim. The rainbow
bridge over the void in Asgard, with the island and Odin's seat at the end of
it. A frozen mere in Niflheim. The bound wolf on Lyngvi. The holm in Midgard.
The long light of Alfheim, where nothing wants anything from you.
WHAT YOU EARN
Titles, ropes, winds, cloaks and crests. Twenty-four titles and forty-one
cosmetics, and not one of them makes you stronger. The rule has held since the
first line of the progression system: rewards are what you wear, never what you
hit with.
HONESTLY
This is my first game made from start to finish as a solo dev. I hope it's worth your time, but if reviews and feedback call for it, I'll continue putting time into the project to make it a game you want to play!
