The legendary King Zhou of Shang—
Cruel. Debauched. Endless banquets. Boundless excess.
The last king of a dynasty, remembered by history for exactly one thing — losing it.
The goddess Nüwa has chosen you.
You are to become Daji, and walk to his side.
Seduce him.
Control him.
Help Heaven complete the CREATION OF THE GODS.
At first, you don't even know what you like.
Someone else likes it, so you like it too. (Empathy +1)
Someone else asks you to give way, so you give way. (Empathy +1)
Someone else once saved your life — so even your life, it seems, belongs to someone else. (Empathy + …)
How are you supposed to repay a life you were given? You have no idea.
And if this is who you are...
how are you ever going to become the ruthless Daji?
By the time you reach Zhaoge, the Shang capital, it has already begun.
Once the mission begins, it does not stop.
Daji must bring the realm to ruin.
The Shang must fall.
Heaven must create its gods.
And you?
If you are a gift,
then so is he.
And if a wedding calls for a red bridal veil,
then let there be two. One for him. One for you.
So what, exactly, is "you"?
The world is crowded with others.
There is only one of you.
One of a kind.
What is this story about?
People have been telling the story of King Zhou and Daji for three thousand years, and in all that time nobody has once asked what infamous "fox spirit" was thinking.
Now you are the fox spirit.
Nobody has bothered to look at you for three thousand years. So just this once, do yourself a favor. Put YOU first.
You are not Daji.
You are only the girl a goddess picked to become her.
How do you manufacture a Daji? And what is this business of making gods, really? You will watch it happen with your own eyes — including the parts nobody wrote into the legend.
I'm nothing like her. Why would I want to live her life?
[strike]Because you're bored.[/strike]
Maybe it's because putting yourself in a box doesn't sound like much fun either.
You may well be fully grown by now — worldly, certain of what you like, perfectly able to say no. Maybe you've already got the whole Main-Character Thing figured out.
None of that stops you from walking into hers.
She isn't you.
Only moments — things you may have lived through, wondered about, seen, heard. Moments when, perhaps, you asked the same questions she did.
And by the end — you may find that you were never her.
And somewhere along the way, you may find out who you actually are.
So walk with Snow. Slowly.
Toward who you are today.
Or perhaps — who you'll be tomorrow.
