You can't fight it. You can only run the train. Running it is exactly what draws the creature closer.
Graveline is a first-person survival horror operation sim set inside one steam locomotive. You never leave the cab. Over one 45–60 minute night, you must keep the boiler fed, watch the water and pressure, read signals, throw junction switches, and hold the deadman's lever before it triggers the brakes and alarm.
Every action creates another problem. Turn off the lantern to hide and you lose sight of your gauges. Vent steam to push the creature back and you lose pressure. Uncouple a car to buy distance and you fall behind schedule. Stop the train and you become an easy target.
Something is moving toward the cab, one car at a time. It reacts to the light and noise you make. You can slow it down, but you cannot kill it.
The night ends when you reach dawn or make a mistake you cannot recover from. Death ends the run. Notes hidden around the cab point toward a warding rite that can be decoded and performed across later attempts.
Features
Operate the locomotive: Manage the boiler, brakes, signals, switches, lantern, and deadman's lever.
Choose between working and hiding: The light and noise that keep the train running also reveal your position.
Face a creature you cannot fight: Track it through sound, mirrors, the periscope, and lights failing along the train.
Make costly decisions: Vent steam, stop the train, or uncouple a car to survive the next few minutes.
Survive one permadeath night: A complete run lasts roughly 45–60 minutes, and mistakes compound.
Find the hidden ending: Decode notes between attempts and perform the Last Rites through the locomotive's controls.
